On 2–4 October at the ATLANTIC Hotel in Heidelberg, we joined Europe’s foremost sepsis clinical community to share fresh research on VIOSync and ask a question that drives everything we do: how can we make insight move faster than deterioration?
Sepsis doesn’t wait. It deteriorates in hours, not days — and the window to intervene effectively is narrow. Every year, thousands of patients die from sepsis that could have been caught earlier, treated faster, and managed more precisely.
That’s the problem Aisthesis Medical was founded to solve — and it’s why we were proud to sponsor and present at the 12th Sepsis Update, held 2–4 October at the ATLANTIC Hotel in Heidelberg. This is the clinical community we’re building for — and being in the room matters.
About the Sepsis Update Conference
The Sepsis Update is one of Europe’s most respected clinical gatherings focused exclusively on sepsis — bringing together intensivists, emergency physicians, infectious disease specialists, and critical care nurses to share the latest research, clinical protocols, and emerging technologies in sepsis prevention, detection, and treatment.
Now in its 12th edition, the conference has established itself as a forum where real clinical science meets practical implementation — exactly the kind of conversation we need to be part of as we develop and deploy VIOSync.
The Research Question Driving VIOSync
Our presentation at the Sepsis Update centred on a question that sits at the core of everything we build: how can we make clinical insight move faster than deterioration?
It sounds simple. But in practice, the gap between the earliest detectable signals of sepsis and a clinical team’s ability to act on them is where lives are lost. Current detection approaches are often reactive — triggered when the clinical picture is already obvious and the window to prevent organ dysfunction is closing.
Our research shared at the conference explored how VIOSync addresses this gap — through a combination of multimodal data fusion, real-time risk prediction up to 48 hours in advance, and Explainable AI outputs that give clinicians the context they need to act, not just an alert they have to trust blindly.
What VIOSync Brings to the Sepsis Care Pathway
At the Sepsis Update, we demonstrated how VIOSync supports clinical teams across three critical dimensions of the care pathway:
- Recognise risk earlier: VIOSync continuously monitors vital signs, lab results, and clinical context — identifying deterioration patterns up to 48 hours before they become clinically obvious, giving teams the time to intervene proactively.
- Understand the underlying cause: Our Explainable AI (XAI) layer doesn’t just flag a risk score — it surfaces the specific data points driving the alert, helping clinicians understand why the system is flagging concern and validate the output against their own clinical judgement.
- Act decisively without workflow disruption: Evidence-based guidance is embedded directly into existing clinical workflows — so the insight reaches clinicians where they already work, without adding another dashboard or alert system to an already demanding environment.
Better insight means better patient safety. That’s not a marketing claim — it’s the outcome we’re designing every product decision around.
Why Clinical Community Engagement Matters
Clinical AI doesn’t earn trust in a boardroom — it earns it at the bedside, and in conversations with the clinicians who understand sepsis most deeply. Sponsoring and presenting at the Sepsis Update isn’t just a visibility exercise. It’s how we:
- Test our assumptions against the latest clinical science and research findings.
- Build relationships with the clinicians whose daily reality VIOSync is designed to improve.
- Ensure that our product roadmap stays anchored to frontline realities — not just technical benchmarks.
- Contribute to a clinical community that is advancing the field of sepsis care in ways that will ultimately benefit patients — whether or not they’re using VIOSync.
The conversations in Heidelberg reinforced that the clinical community is ready for AI that supports — rather than replaces — clinical judgement. VIOSync is designed with exactly that philosophy.
About Aisthesis Medical
Aisthesis Medical is a deep-tech medtech startup developing cutting-edge AI-driven solutions to revolutionize acute care. Founded in 2022, our mission is to save lives by predicting and preventing sepsis before it becomes fatal. Aisthesis Medical is revolutionizing acute care with VIOSync, the first holistic AI-driven sepsis care platform that goes beyond early prediction to guide clinical intervention and optimize patient outcomes. VIOSync, predicts sepsis up to 48 hours earlier, integrates directly into hospital workflows, and optimizes treatment pathways to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use.
